Post Remembrance of a old winter, five years past. Read an old post here about beauty in winter
Series: :The Awakening of Silence
"This is it " by James Broughton

Here is a small literary excerpt from the work of James Broughton
This is just so beautifully profound , it has so much to it. Its almost as if its a verse out of the Upanishads , some thing on the likes of Isa Upanishad. To the uninitiated the great esoteric meanings behind these simple word may be clouded by mere useless thoughts. As I once heard some one say "some times i feel like those uninvited thoughts were just there for no reason at all".

The first time i had read a long time ago , i was profoundly enlightened by it. It was almost as if i had a brief spark of a Satori, so to speak of as in the Zen tradition.

Here is a brief Biography of James Broughton (taken from Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Broughton ).

'James Broughton (November 10, 1913 – May 17, 1999) was an American poet, and poetic filmmaker. He was part of the San Francisco Renaissance. He was an early bard of the Radical Faeries.'

Well can you believe that he is a Poet and also a Poetic Filmmaker ?This is the first time i have even heard of such a type of person, a poetic filmmaker!! I have to admit I got a bit excited about James and so i thought of looking his works on the net and to my surprise(pleasant) there was actually Short Film by James titled "This Is It"

This is It

This is It
and I am It
and You are It
and so is That

and He is It
and She is It
and It is It
and That is That

Oh It is This
and It is Thus
and It is Them
and It is Us

and It is now
and Here It is
and Here We are
so This is It

It would be good if u could get to read or watch some other Works of him.
Well Here is the film

The Road to Enlightenment - Chapter 1

His Birth was the most unusual event at the shore. He was Born late. He was unfortunate enough to witness the death of his brothers and sisters and every one of his kind just a few days after he was born.

On the shore of Lake Akimoto every spring the flowers bloom and bring along with them the colors and the fragrance of Joy.This summer however when all the flowers were born there was but a lone bud that did not bloom. A tiny bud. He still hadn't even grown fully to bloom. Everyone thought the bud would never bloom.
And so the days slowly passed and everyone had soon forgotten about the tiny bud. Summer came and went along with it came the rays of peace . Autumn then came , and along with it came the winds, the winds soon took away with them the fragrance of the flowers.Autumn soon started to pass and along with it started disappearing the colors of the flowers.

Winter came and soon life slowly started departing form the flowers who were all quite old by now. The tiny Bud which everyone had ignored till now was not tiny anymore. It had grown quite big indeed, and one fine hour it bloomed and so our Flower was born.

At a very tender age having seen the other flowers around him being escorted away from him by death he was quite heart broken . Soon the reality of being alone on the shore was vert difficult for him to handle. He stared to weep. For several days and nights he had wept and he never stopped. On the night when the shore had heard his cry for seven days and nights in a row, a very deep and long sound erupted from the ground.it took some tine for the surroundings of the lake to identify it, and when they did , the whole place became still. Every grain of soil became Still. Every leaf, Every branch , Everything became still.Yes this was it. It was the sound of the unmanifested uttering the sound of creation.

The road to Enlightenment - An Introduction

The following series was after long hours of felt oneness with being. Such a state arises when one is able to quieten the mind and starts observing the observer. Such stillness gives rise to a deep under current of peace , which opens the channels of being to creatively influence the thoughts. in short, No thoughts = the state of stillness;

These posts are a direct result of such stillness, and therefore contain much more that what you merely see as words. Some thing like 'Reality reading' like in the Zen tradition is whats needed to read and assimilate works of Stillness. Read the following sentence thrice. The brief gap between the paragraphs are not there just to make the blog posts look organized, it is there for you to break free from the voice in your head and pay close attention to the brief period of stillness that can arise. It is only in those brief periods that the true meaning of these paragraphs become "realized".
I am back from the retreat and ever excited to share my experiences with all of you.
Spent some free time just gazing at trees from my comfy little Chair there...

First things first, the two Series as promised are being posted right away. I will Post the "Road to Enlightenment" first. "The tree of life" is actually intended as commentaries on the posts of the other series, giving detailed explanations and reading sources etc for understanding the implementing in your daily life, the true lessons presented in the "the Road to Enlightenment".
The "Road to Enlightenment" series will be presented as a fable. Read on ...
I first read this poem in "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying" by Sogyal Rinpoche.

"Autobiography in Five Chapters"

1) I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I fall in.
I am lost . . . I am hopeless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.

2) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.

3) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in . . . it's a habit
My eyes are open
I know where I am
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.

4) I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk
I walk around it

5) I walk down another street.

i would be starting a series of posts entitled "The Road to Enlightenment" and another parallel series called the "The Tree of Life". I am off on a retreat for 3 weeks . So the series shall receive its postings very soon.
Most of it has already been started but theres more that needs to be written.i am unaware of many things, thats what the retreat is for.

I am reminded of Krishnamurti's Notebook when this idea had come to me....."time shall teach me what ever i need to learn".This is some thing that is beyond all limits of what i have ever creatively done in my life.
